Clean Prefetch Data

The prefetch directory can get full of junk and obsolete links which can slow down yourcomputer noticeably.
I would suggest that you do this once a month or so to improve thespeed.
Do not follow this on a daily basis as prefetching of most commonly used programs will speed up the execution of those programs.
To perform this trick go to:C(SystemDrive):/windows/prefetch, and delete everything and reboot

WARNING - DO NOT DO THIS!
This tp is based on a complete misunderstanding of how prefetch works. Prefetch does NOT preload applications or any portion of them at bootup. Application prefetch files are referenced only after application launch has been initiated. Unused or rarely used entries will no impact on performance. Deletion of these files will impair performance. In any event the folder os self cleaning after 128 entries. All of this has been extensively tested.
